Andy Smith
Andy is the director of Sylva Vale Ltd and brings over 15 years of experience in arboriculture, along with more than 20 years in the wider horticultural industry.
Prior to establishing Sylva Vale Ltd, he worked as an operations manager for a regional arboricultural company, overseeing a wide range of tree work across both domestic and commercial settings — including projects on larger and more complex sites such as estates, council-managed land, street tree populations, industrial sites and specialist environments.
That experience provided a strong foundation in managing work at scale, coordinating operations on site, and ensuring work is carried out safely and to a consistent standard. Alongside this, Andy has a broader background in horticulture, including the management of planting and long-term landscape care — which informs the company's approach to managing trees and woody vegetation within the wider environment.
While Sylva Vale Ltd undertakes a range of practical tree work, the company's focus for development-related projects is on arboricultural consultancy — providing surveys, reports and professional advice to support the planning process. Clients can expect clear communication, practical advice and work carried out with attention to detail, drawing on a strong understanding of both arboriculture and the wider landscape.
